VP Globe Pendant Light

A light you can see into. The VP Globe is a clear acrylic sphere with the light source suspended inside it — not hidden behind a shade, but visibly floating at the centre, surrounded by a stack of reflector discs hung on fine metal chains.

The discs do the work. The bulb points upward into the uppermost reflector, and the light is thrown down through the stack, bouncing between the polished surfaces before it leaves the sphere. What reaches the room has been reflected several times, which is why a fixture with a completely transparent shade produces no glare at all. You can look directly at it.

Why this fixture is different

• Transparent, but glare-free. The internal reflector stack redirects all the light before it exits, so the bulb is never visible as a hot point — the classic Danish solution to the glare problem.
• Visible engineering. The chains, the discs, the polished reflectors: the mechanism is the ornament. Suspended in clear acrylic, the interior reads as a floating assembly.
• Colour where it counts. The lower discs carry the accent colour, so the tint appears in the light itself and in the reflections, not just on the outside of the fixture.
• Four finishes. White, Gold, Chrome, and White & Apricot — from the clean and neutral to the warm and unmistakably period.

Where to hang it

A perfect sphere at 15.8 inches wants to be seen in the round, so give it space rather than tucking it against a ceiling. It suits a dining table, a stairwell where you see it from above and below, a wide entry, or a corner of a living room where it reads as an object. Over a dining table, hang the bottom of the sphere 30 to 34 inches above the tabletop; the transparency means it will not block sightlines across the table the way a solid shade of the same size would.

Is the bulb visible through the clear sphere?

The bulb sits inside the reflector stack rather than in open view, and the discs redirect its light before it leaves the sphere. The result is a transparent fixture that does not glare, which is the whole point of the design.

What finishes are available?

Four: White, Gold, Chrome, and White & Apricot. The sphere is clear acrylic on all four; the finish refers to the reflector discs and hardware inside.

Is it dimmable?

The fixture runs on a common wall switch and has no built-in dimming, so it depends on the bulb. A dimmable E14 LED on a compatible wall dimmer will dim.

How long is the suspension?

150 cm / 59 inches, which suits standard 8 to 10 foot ceilings and can be shortened at installation. Longer suspension is available on request for vaulted or double-height ceilings — contact us before ordering.

How do I clean an acrylic sphere?

Wipe with a soft, damp microfibre cloth and dry immediately. Never use alcohol, ammonia-based glass cleaner, or paper towel on acrylic — solvents cause crazing and paper scratches the surface.

Can it be used in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It is rated for indoor use only and is not damp- or wet-rated.

Will it work outside the United States?

Yes. It accepts AC 110-240 V and carries certification compatible with North America, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. E14 bulbs are available for both 120 V and 230 V supply.
