Chandelier Size Guide
Choosing the right chandelier size helps a room feel balanced and makes online lighting purchases easier. Use this guide before ordering a chandelier for a dining room, foyer, living room, villa, hotel, or commercial interior.
Dining Room Chandelier Size
For dining tables, choose a chandelier that is about one-half to two-thirds the width of the table. Leave enough space around the fixture so it does not feel crowded when people sit or move around the table.
Height Above a Dining Table
As a general starting point, hang the bottom of the chandelier about 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop for an 8-foot ceiling. For taller ceilings, raise the fixture slightly while keeping it visually connected to the table.
Foyer and High Ceiling Spaces
For foyers, stairwells, and open spaces, consider both fixture width and hanging height. A chandelier should be visible and proportional without blocking walking paths, doors, or sightlines.
